Walk 100 km September Challenge
Aim of Event
To walk 100 km across the month of September
Why do this walk?
Take advantage of the late summer days to increase your steps whilst supporting a local charity. Whether you decide to take on a few km each day or in the evenings or do more on weekends, however you choose to walk it’s your choice. The aim is just to complete the 100 km and to do so within the month of September, so it could be with your family, with your friends, your work colleagues, your dog or just as an individual challenge!
We are asking for you to raise a minimum of £20 each, but we are most grateful for any additional sponsorship you might be able to achieve through family and friends for example, during the course of your event.
Most smartphones and watches have step trackers on or there are specific apps such as Step Up or Strava which allow individuals to track their daily/weekly steps. Just make sure you record your weekly throughout September.
How does doing this challenge help Juno Counselling?
Juno Counselling is a small charity offering up to 24 weeks of specialist counselling to anyone aged sixteen and over who has been affected by sexual violence at any time in their lives, whenever or however it happened. We are a female-led organisation, serving people of all genders living in Hertfordshire and neighbouring areas, irrespective of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic class, religion or disability. All of our counsellors are volunteers who have undergone specialist training in sexual trauma in order to enable individuals to move forward in their journey towards recovery.
Juno Counselling relies entirely on donations and fundraising in order to provide a counselling service. Any donation you can make, however small, has a real impact on the work that we do. All the donations add up, and can allow someone to access the expert trauma counselling which we offer.
· £30 provides a counselling session for someone in need
· £120 provides an assessment session
· £360 provides for 12 weeks of counselling
As we are a very small charity we are starting to explore many different ideas and fundraising events which will support us and allow us to grow for the future. This particular event will be a trial event for us this year. If successful, we may aim to repeat the event in future years.
